2004 Census Pilot Test

In preparation for the 2006 Census, the CSO conducted a Census Pilot Survey on 25th April 2004. The Survey took place in 8 field districts throughout Ireland. It covered approximately 8,000 households. The purpose of the pilot was primarily to test new questions. A decision in relation to the questions to be included on the 2006 census form will be taken by Government shortly. Following the Government decision, the report of the census pilot test will be made available on the CSO website.
