2006 Census Sample of Anonymised Records (SARs)

A 5% anonymised sample of the population covering demographic and socio-economic variables and associated housing characteristics is available.

A copy of the SARs dataset has been lodged with the Irish Social Science Data Archive (ISSDA). ISSDA may authorise users who are bona fide students, staff or research personnel to have access to the data for the purposes of economic and social research. Use of the data and/or any results obtained from use of the data for any other purposes is prohibited without the express permission of the CSO.

Correction to SARGEO classification affecting Place of Birth and Country of Previous Residence variables.

In the original SAR the EU accession states (Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia) were incorrectly coded to "99. Other countries" instead of to "50. Other EU". The revised file includes a new code: "51. EU15 - EU25 Accession states". The corrected version of the file was made available to ISSDA in March 2009. However, due to an oversight the User Guide was not updated until July 2010.
