IMF

On the 19th September 1996 the International Monetary Fund launched its Special Data Dissemination Standards (SDDS) (links to IMF website). Ireland was one of the eighteen inaugural members. The National Summary Data page contains the statistics for Ireland required to meet IMF guidelines. Countries subscribing to the Special Standards undertake to follow sound practices with regard to publication of statistical data.

The IMF maintains a Bulletin Board on the Internet. Each subscribing country provides metadata, i.e. information about its data, in relation to economic data. The CSO provides this information to the IMF not only on its own behalf but also for the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland (links to Central Bank and Financial Services Authority website), the Department of Finance (links to Department of Finance website) and the Irish Stock Exchange (links to the Irish Stock Exchange website).
